UEFA confirm that Aleksander Ceferin, Michael van Praag and Angel Maria Villar Llona are in the running to succeed Michel Platini as president of the governing body.

UEFA has confirmed the three candidates who will bid to succeed Michel Platini as the president of European football's governing body.

Slovenian FA president Aleksander Ceferin, Dutch FA president Michael van Praag and president of the Spanish Football Federation Angel Maria Villar Llona will all be in the running, subject to an eligibility check.

Former president Platini was forced to stand down from his role after he was handed a four-year ban from all football-related activity by FIFA.

The election will take place on September 14 at the 12th Extraordinary UEFA Congress in Athens.

The review committee of FIFA will be responsible for carrying out the eligibility checks in the meantime, with the UEFA president automatically becoming a FIFA Council vice-president.
