Newcastle United and Southampton are interested in signing CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, according to the player's agent.

Alexander Manyakov - the agent of CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin - has claimed that Newcastle United and Southampton want to sign the Russian international.

Golovin has emerged as one of his nation's key men, and the 21-year-old has been linked with a transfer to Arsenal in the past.

However, while dismissing a switch to a major club in the Premier League, it appears that a move to English football could take place in the summer.

Manyakov told Sports.ru: "He needs to leave. As far as I know, there are specific offers from Premier League clubs but not from the top-six sides.

"I know that Southampton and Newcastle are showing an interest but not everything depends on Alexander, he has an active contract with CSKA."

Golovin - who has earned 17 caps for Russia - still has over three years remaining on his contract.
