How Manchester United could line up against Everton

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for Saturday's Premier League meeting with Everton at Old Trafford.

Manchester United could move joint-top of the Premier League table for a day at least when they welcome Everton to Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils equalled the biggest win in Premier League history on Tuesday by putting nine-man Southampton to the sword in a ruthless 9-0 hammering.

It was an emphatic return to winning ways after two games without victory, but they will be expecting a tougher test against an Everton side that has won each of their last four away games.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could set his side up for the contest.

Out: Phil Jones (knee)
Doubtful: Edinson Cavani (ankle)

Perhaps the only downside of Man United's humiliation of Southampton was that Edinson Cavani picked up a knock to his ankle, forcing him off at half time of the rout.

The Uruguayan will be monitored ahead of this match but is expected to be available if needed, although Anthony Martial's two-goal showing off the bench may have been enough to earn him a start regardless, and that would be his 250th appearance for the Red Devils.

Martial also has the benefit of an impressive record against Everton, having been directly involved in nine goals from his last 11 appearances against the Toffees, including a goal and assist off the bench when they met in the EFL Cup earlier this season.

Like Cavani, Luke Shaw was withdrawn at half time against Southampton, although that was more precautionary and the in-form full-back should be in contention to feature on Saturday.

Phil Jones is the only other absentee for the Red Devils, but Paul Pogba will be among the players pushing for a recall after missing out on the Southampton goal-fest.

Man United had seven different scorers in that game, but Mason Greenwood was not amongst them and he could lose his place in the side if Pogba returns this weekend.
