Young: 'United not in awe of Man City'

Manchester United's Ashley Young insists that his side are only focusing on themselves and not paying attention to Manchester City's push for a famous treble.

Ashley Young has insisted that Manchester United are "not in awe of Manchester City" following their rivals' hugely impressive campaign to date.

The Citizens boasted a 16-point advantage over United in the Premier League heading into matchday 29 and are still on course to win a domestic and European treble.

EFL Cup winners City are now within five victories of the Prem title, which would be their second in five years, compared to zero across the same timeframe for the Red Devils since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped aside.

Despite the relative gulf between the two sides this term, however, Young claims that United are paying little attention to others.

"We aren't in awe of Man City," he told Daily Mail. "They have had a good season, you can't get around that, but we talk about ourselves.

"I don't think you'd find a United player talking about City, as you wouldn't find a City player talking about United. We concentrate on what is happening here.

"Credit to them, they have done fantastically well this season. But we're fighting on all fronts. Even in the league, until the points are done and they've won it, we've got a lot to play for."

City are in action against defending champions Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, while United take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night.
