Guardiola: 'No rush with Mendy'

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola suggests that he will not rush the comeback of Benjamin Mendy, who has returned to training after a long injury layoff.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has insisted that the club must be "patient" with Benjamin Mendy.

On Monday, City revealed that Mendy had made an appearance during training having being sidelined since September 23 with a serious knee injury.

However, despite acknowledging that the French international is making progress, Guardiola has suggested that he will take no risks with the left-back's fitness.

At a press conference, the 47-year-old told reporters: "He is back but after six months out, we must be patient."

Since signing from Monaco during the summer, Mendy has made just five appearances in all competitions, with Fabian Delph, Danilo and Oleksandr Zinchenko all deputising for the 23-year-old.
