Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos insists that his side "were superior for almost all of the match" in their UEFA Super Cup triumph over Manchester United.

Sergio Ramos has said that he will "never tire of winning" trophies after helping Real Madrid to a dominant 2-1 win over Manchester United in the UEFA Super Cup.

Los Blancos opened up a deserved two-goal lead within seven minutes of the second-half restart, only for Romelu Lukaku - moments after missing a sitter - to pull one back for his side.

In the end Madrid almost paid for failing to make their possession count, relying on Keylor Navas to produce a big stop to keep out substitute Marcus Rashford late on, but Ramos was more than happy with the nature of the victory.

"We were superior for almost all of the match," he told reporters. "Winning a title is the best way to start [a season]. I never tire of winning; the museum is expanding at home but I never tire of winning."

Madrid now turn attention to their Spanish Super Cup double-header against Barcelona, starting with Sunday night's first leg at Camp Nou.
