A takeover of Manchester United could reportedly be completed by the end of the season after the Glazer family announced their intention to sell earlier this month.

The Glazer family could reportedly sell Manchester United by the end of the current season.

Having owned Man United for 17 years, the Glazer family released a statement earlier this month to announce their desire to sell the club.

In their time in control of the Red Devils, the Glazers' ownership has come under scrutiny, and they have faced widespread protests from supporters.

According to BBC Sport, a takeover could be completed by the spring, although there is currently no firm timescale on the process.

While Zara founder Amancio Ortega recently ruled himself out of the running to become Man United owner, a number of interested parties have been linked.

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is believed to be considering a bid as well as Apple, with their CEO Tim Cook said to be lining up talks with banks about a potential takeover.

Saudi Arabia's sports minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal has also stated that the country's government would support takeover bids from the Saudi private sector.
