Jose Mourinho demands more respect from reporters following criticism for Manchester United's slow start to the Premier League season.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has walked out of his post-match press conference after complaining about a lack of respect from journalists.

The Portuguese was not in a talking mood after witnessing his side slip to a 3-0 loss at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.

It was the heaviest home loss ever suffered by Mourinho and comes hot on the heels of a 3-2 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion, making this the first time since 1992 that the Red Devils have lost two of their opening three Premier League games.

When asked to explain where it went wrong for United on Monday evening, though, the former Chelsea boss was keen to point out that he has won three Premier League titles during his time in English football.

"We lost against Sevilla [last season in the Champions League last 16] and we were booed because we deserved it," he told reporters at the shortened presser. "Today the players left the pitch after losing at home and they were applauded because they deserved it, so we keep trying, trying, trying.

"What was the score?" he added, while holding up three fingers. "What is this also? Three Premierships I have won, more Premierships than the other 19 managers put together. Me three, them two. Respect, respect, respect."

Defeat to Tottenham was United's 50th at Old Trafford in the Premier League era.
