England trail India by 498 runs after the Men in Blue declared on 352-7 during day three of the second Test at Trent Bridge.

Virat Kohli hit a century on day three of India's third Test against England at Trent Bridge to leave his side in a dominant position.

The tourists, trailing 2-0 in the five-match series, declared on 352-7 in Nottingham to set their opponents a notional 352 for victory.

Kohli starred with his 103, while Cheteshwar Pujara added 72 and Hardik Pandya an unbeaten 52 to strengthen India's grip on proceedings following a positive second day for the Men in Blue.

England had nine overs to bat before play ended, with Alastair Cook (9*) and Keaton Jennings (13*) reaching 23-0 to keep the home side's slender hopes of a whitewash alive, requiring 498 runs heading into the fourth day.

Earlier in the day, England lost wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow to a broken finger, leaving his participation for the rest of the series in doubt.
