Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane says that the Red Devils must play on the counter-attack against Manchester City.

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has said that the Red Devils must play on the counter-attack against Manchester City on Sunday if they are to stand a chance of picking up a positive result.

The 20-time English champions will head to Etihad Stadium this weekend looking to boost their top-four hopes with a victory.

Man City, though, are also in need of the points, with the Citizens looking to hold off second-placed Liverpool in the table at a vital stage of the campaign.

Man United were held to a goalless draw at home by Watford last weekend, and Keane has said that Ralf Rangnick's side will need to make the most of any opportunities that arrive against Pep Guardiola's side.

"I'm looking forward to it, another test for City, they've been fantastic over recent years. But Man United, hopefully, they will turn up and do a job on them," Keane told ITV.

"The best thing for United is to be on the counter-attack, City will dominate possession like they always do but United on the counter-attack, they've been creating chances lately - not been taking them. But they'll have to do that Sunday because they won't get many."

Man United recorded a 2-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League last season, with Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw scoring the goals in the Manchester derby.
