Derby County are in talks with Manchester United over the cost of repairs to hundreds of seats which were damaged by visiting fans during their FA Cup clash at the iPro.

Championship club Derby County have confirmed that they are in talks with Manchester United over damage which occurred to their stadium during last month's FA Cup match between the two sides.

United took 5,460 fans to the iPro Stadium for their fourth-round fixture on January 29, with the 20-time champions of England going on to progress to the last 16 with a 3-1 victory.

However, it was discovered the day after the match that an estimated 300 seats had been vandalised by the visiting supporters, and Derby are now looking to bill the Red Devils for the repairs, which is expected to run into the thousands.

"I can confirm there was damage caused to seats in the away section and that we are liaising with Manchester United," said a spokesperson for Derby.

A report in The Guardian also claims that League One side Shrewsbury Town have abandoned plans to install temporary seating for their FA Cup match against United this weekend.
