The £9m fine imposed on Manchester City by the Court of Arbitration for Sport will be shared amongst clubs in Europe, including rivals Liverpool and Manchester United.

Manchester City's £9m fine for a failure to co-operate with UEFA's investigation into alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play rules will go into the pockets of their European rivals, including Liverpool and Manchester United.

City were initially fined three times that amount and suspended from European competition for two seasons, but they were successful in their appeal as the Court of Arbitration for Sport yesterday confirmed that they will be able to take part in next season's Champions League.

While the ban was lifted completely, Man City will still have to pay a £9m fine, and that money will go into the pockets of clubs that adhered to all of the FFP rules in that time.

Liverpool and Manchester United are among the clubs set to receive a monetary boost as a result, although the reduction of the punishment means that it will only be a nominal amount.

Man City have already qualified for next season's Champions League and remain in this year's competition, currently holding an away first-leg lead over Real Madrid ahead of the last-16 second leg at the Etihad Stadium next month.
