Manchester City reportedly put a £100m asking price on winger Leroy Sane in a bid to ward off interest from German giants Bayern Munich.

Manchester City have reportedly put a £100m asking price on winger Leroy Sane in an attempt to ward off interest from German giants Bayern Munich.

Sane found himself down the pecking order during the second half of the 2018-19 campaign, starting only five Premier League games since the end of January as Bernardo Silva was preferred alongside Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero in the front three.

The 23-year-old's lack of starts has alerted Bayern to his possible availability, with the German giants' president Uli Hoeness confirming that they are interested in signing him this summer.

Bayern were thought to be lining up a £70m bid to test Man City's resolve, but The Mirror reports that the English domestic treble winners want as much as £100m for the Germany international.

Man City are also understood to have offered Sane a bumper new contract worth around £150,000 per week to stay at the Etihad Stadium, more than doubling his current salary.

Sane, who still has two years remaining on his current deal with City, was named the Premier League's young player of the year in 2017-18 but was subsequently left out of Germany's World Cup squad before losing his place in Pep Guardiola's side.
