Manchester City full-back Pablo Zabaleta admits that his team did not beat Watford in a 'pretty' manner, but are pleased to get back to winning ways at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City full-back Pablo Zabaleta has admitted that his team did not win 'pretty' but are satisfied with a victory over Watford at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Argentine was an unlikely scorer as he made the breakthrough shortly after the half-hour mark, while David Silva killed off the game with a late goal.

The 2-0 win was their first league triumph at home in three months.

"It has been a long time without a win playing at home, it has been strange," BBC Sport quotes Zabaleta as saying. "It was not the prettiest game tonight but we had determination to win the game. We had the clean sheet we've been talking about and were solid defensively. Today we were really good at the back and we took our chances. We deserved to win.

"As a full-back you go into a game thinking you have to defend but when you have the chance to go forward especially at the far post and attack the space, it is good. It was a great cross from Kevin De Bruyne and a good finish for a full-back!"

City remain fourth in the table, seven points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
