Wednesday's EFL Cup predictions including Southampton vs. Manchester City

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's EFL Cup fixtures, including Southampton vs. Manchester City.

Nott'm Forest vs. Wolves (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Aiming to avoid a second domestic cup exit in the space of a week, Nottingham Forest welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the City Ground for Wednesday's EFL Cup quarter-final.

Steve Cooper's side were humbled 4-1 by Blackpool in their FA Cup third-round tie last time out, while the visitors managed to take Liverpool to a replay following a 2-2 draw.

We say: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves to win on penalties)

Lest Forest risk another dose of the hairdryer treatment from Cooper, they ought to revert to their strongest selves for the showdown with Wolves, and a well-rested bunch of regular starters certainly ought to help them do that.

While Wolves put on quite the show at Anfield, they were grateful for two underwhelming pieces of play by Alisson Becker for their goals, and Lopetegui's men may have to rely on spot kicks to enter the hat for the semi-finals here.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Southampton vs. Man City (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Southampton welcome Manchester City to St Mary's for their quarter-final clash in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night, with a place in the last four up for grabs.

The Saints have beaten three lower-league teams to reach this stage, while the Citizens have battled their way past Liverpool and Chelsea in the previous two rounds.

We say: Southampton 0-3 Manchester City

Man City will be regarded as strong favourites to progress to the EFL Cup semi-finals and they proved in last weekend's win over Chelsea that they can cope without the presence of a number of star names.

Southampton will have been boosted by their victory at the weekend, but coming out on top against a clinical Citizens outfit will likely be a step too far for Jones and co.

Our tipster partners are predicting an away win.
