Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc claims that Manchester City will be "the guest club" of the Champions League semi-finals.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has claimed that Manchester City are a "guest club" in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Kevin De Bruyne was on target in Manchester last night as City wrapped up a 3-2 aggregate win over the Ligue 1 champions to secure their progress to the penultimate stage of the competition for the first time in their history.

Speaking after the game, Blanc took responsibility for his side's loss against a "not particularly spectacular" City side.

"There are always three clubs in the semi-finals and one guest club. This year the guest club will be Manchester City," he told reporters. "Of course I am responsible. I put the team together, selected it, the strategy we use. When we win, it is the players. When we lose, I take responsibility.

"Even though we made a few mistakes in the first match, we were still hopeful we could score tonight. We thought we would create plenty of chances. City surprised me more tonight. They were very solid, particularly in the middle of defence. Ultimately the buck stops with me.

"City were a good team, not particularly spectacular, but they got the job done. They were good in defence, very compact, even though that wasn't the case in the first leg. We understand City probably deserve to qualify so well done."

City will be joined in Friday's semi-final draw by Real Madrid, who dumped out Wolfsburg last night courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick.
