A report claims that Emre Can will only sign a new contract at Anfield if a release clause is inserted, but Liverpool are refusing to budge.

Liverpool have reportedly declined Emre Can's request to insert a release clause in any new contract signed, leaving his Anfield future in doubt.

The Germany international is said to be on the radar of numerous clubs across Europe after recently entering the final 12 months of his deal.

Juventus are among those to have shown a serious interest, with suggestions that a pre-contract agreement will be struck in January to take the 23-year-old to Turin.

Liverpool had still been hopeful of persuading Can to extend his deal on Merseyside, but the Daily Star suggests that talks have further stalled in recent days.

It is claimed that the Reds do not want the ex-Bayer Leverkusen ace to have a clause in his contract, despite the risk of losing him for free next summer if an agreement is not reached.
