Liverpool are reportedly preparing an offer to try to sign Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam during the summer transfer window.

Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Liverpool.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is currently looking to strengthen his squad with a left-back after midfielder James Milner deputised in that position this season.

A number of players have been linked, including Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon and Hull City's Andrew Robertson, but according to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Ghoulam has been identified as a possible signing.

It has been suggested that Liverpool will make their move in the coming days, and the speculation has resulted in Ghoulam shying away from penning a new contract with the Serie A giants.

Since signing from Saint-Etienne in 2014, Ghoulam has made a total of 133 appearances in all competitions for Napoli.

During the past two seasons, he has helped the club finish in second and third place respectively in Italy's top flight.
