The hamstring injury suffered by Liverpool's Fabinho against FC Midtjylland is not as serious as first feared, according to a report.

Liverpool have reportedly learned that the hamstring injury suffered by Fabinho during Tuesday's Champions League clash with FC Midtjylland is not as serious as first feared.

There had been suggestions that the Brazil international could be set for an extended period on the sidelines with the issue that he picked up during the European tie at Anfield.

However, according to The Mirror, Wednesday morning's scan showed a grade one/grade two tear rather than a grade three, which could have seen him miss up to six months.

As a result, the report claims that the South American, who has been filling in for Virgil van Dijk in central defence, could be back immediately after the November international break.

The 27-year-old could therefore sit out the matches with West Ham United, Atalanta BC and Manchester City before potentially returning against Leicester City on November 21.

Joel Matip faces a battle to be fit for this weekend's clash with the Hammers, meanwhile, handing head coach Jurgen Klopp a dilemma when it comes to choosing a centre-back partner for Joe Gomez.
