Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Napoli

Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's Champions League fixture against Napoli at Anfield.

Liverpool have the chance to move into top spot in Group E when they meet Napoli at Anfield in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Jurgen Klopp's men head into the game as considerable favourites due to their imperious home record and a recent slump in form from the Italian side.

However, the Reds will be conscious of the fact that Napoli are the only team to beat them this season, recording a 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture in September.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of this game.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: November 27 (vs. Napoli)

The Switzerland international returned to training last week following a calf injury, with Klopp deciding against using him at Selhurst Park, but is expected to come back for the game on Wednesday.

Joel Matip

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Matip has been sidelined with a knee injury since last month and Klopp has made it clear that he does not wish to rush the defender back to action.

Nathaniel Clyne

Status: Out

Possible return date: Unknown

The Englishman is Liverpool's only long-term absentee due to a knee ligament injury sustained over pre-season. There remains no timescale regarding when he could return.
