Sports Mole previews Tuesday's pre-season friendly fixture between Dundee and Leyton Orient, including predictions and team news.

Dundee continue their preparations for the new campaign with a pre-season friendly against Leyton Orient on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, the visitors make the trip to the Kilmac Stadium looking to start their build-up to the upcoming League Two season with a win.

Having earned a return to the Scottish Premiership, everyone at Dundee is on a high as they bid to re-establish themselves as a top-flight club.

Nevertheless, the hard work continues for James McPake and his Dees squad ahead of their first fixture at home to St Mirren on July 31.

With West Ham United to follow three days after this encounter, McPake will want his players to build on the outstanding 5-0 triumph away at Hamilton Academical.

New arrival Luke McGowan netted in his second successive game, strengthening the feeling that the 23-year-old winger is ready to make the step up with his new team.

While Dundee are only a week away from featuring in the League Cup, Orient have a number of weeks before they have to tackle any competitive fixtures.

Having been appointed as Orient's new manager, Kenny Jackett has been busy in the transfer market, a consequence of many first-team players being released or departing on free transfers.

Darren Pratley will bring invaluable experience to the group, but defender Omar Beckles remains the standout signing after choosing to drop down a league to sign for his hometown club.

Although Orient have five matches to get themselves up to speed before their League Two opener against Salford, Jackett will want to see instant improvements after the club ended last season with four successive defeats.

Team News

Jackett will have to do without Beckles for Orient's trip to Scotland as a result of the defender linking up with Grenada for the Gold Cup.

However, barring any late fitness issues, Pratley and the new trio of Connor Wood, Paul Smyth and Aaron Drinan should all be given game time.

With some of his key players potentially being saved for the West Ham game, McPake could hand more minutes to his Dundee fringe players for this contest.

Charlie Adam was the star of the win over Forfar, contributing assists for all three goals during his appearance in the second half.

We say: Dundee 2-1 Leyton Orient

If these two sides were squaring off in a competitive fixture, most would be predicting a narrow win for the Scottish side. With Dundee having already gotten a game under their belts, we feel that could still be the same outcome with the visitors focused more on upping their fitness levels.
