Leeds United confirm the signing of 18-year-old Swiss defender Diogo Monteiro on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Servette.

Leeds United have confirmed the signing of Swiss defender Diogo Monteiro from Servette.

The 18-year-old moves to Elland Road on a three-and-a-half-year deal which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026.

Monteiro will initially join up with Leeds' Under-21s squad, with a view to progressing into the senior team in the coming years.

The Portugal Under-19s international broke into the Servette first team at the age of just 16, becoming the third-youngest player in the history of the Swiss Super League.

Monteiro has gone on to make seven appearances for the club but now joins Leeds' youth team as they bid for promotion from Premier League 2 Division 2.

Leeds have brought in three players to their senior side so far this month, with Georginio Rutter, Maximilian Wober and Weston McKennie all joining the club.

Jesse Marsch's side currently sit 15th in the Premier League table, just one point clear of the relegation zone.
