How Italy could line up against Poland

Sports Mole looks at how Italy could line up in Sunday's UEFA Nations League clash with Poland.

Italy will be aiming to record their second victory in the 2020-21 UEFA Nations League when they continue their campaign away to Poland on Sunday night.

Roberto Mancini's side are currently top of Group 1 of League A, having picked up four points from their opening two matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Netherlands.

The Azzurri will bring a 17-game unbeaten run into this weekend's contest, while they thumped Moldova 6-0 in an international friendly on Wednesday night.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Italy could line up in Gdansk.

POSS ITA XI vs. POL

Mancini will have been delighted with the performance of a number of players against Moldova, with Stephan El Shaarawy scoring a brace, while Francesco Caputo capped his debut with a goal.

Domenico Berardi and Bryan Cristante also scored their first goals for the national team, but the Italy boss is expected to make wholesale changes for this weekend's clash in Gdansk.

Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini are both available after being allowed to leave the Juventus bubble after a coronavirus scare, and the pair should line up in the middle of the defence.

Federico Chiesa, who joined Juve on transfer deadline day, could also be handed a spot in the XI, while El Shaarawy's double on Wednesday could also see him join Ciro Immobile in the final third.

Indeed, there are positions up for grabs in Mancini's first side as Nicolo Zaniolo, Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi all missed out on spots in the squad through injury.

Danilo D'Ambrosio and Leonardo Spinazzola are expected to be given the nod in the full-back positions, while Jorginho should be joined in midfield by Nicolo Barella and Manuel Locatelli.
