Hebei China Fortune have denied making an approach for experienced forward Robin van Persie.

The 33-year-old has just one year remaining on his current deal with Fenerbahce, and it has been reported that a number of Chinese Super League clubs, including Hebei, wanted to bring the striker to Asia.

Such speculation has been denied, however, with Hebei 'solemnly declaring' that they have never been in contact with Van Persie.

"Regarding the widespread reports that Hebei China Fortune have bid for Van Persie, our club hereby solemnly declare that we have never approached Van Persie," the club said in a statement.

"All of this is pure rumours and hopefully gossip dies when it hits a wise person's ears."

Van Persie has scored 36 times in 82 appearances for Fenerbahce since joining the Turkish giants from Manchester United in the summer of 2015.
