Preview: Germany vs. Denmark - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's International Friendlies clash between Germany and Denmark, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Germany and Denmark will lock horns this week in an international friendly ahead of the start of the European Championships in mid-June.

With both squads announced ahead of the tournament, both sides will look to build up confidence, fitness and squad cohesion before the beginning of the group stage.

Despite their recent shock 2-1 defeat to North Macedonia in World Cup qualification, Germany remain cast as somewhat of a dark horse this summer, with the squad bursting with talent in all departments.

Along with new additions to the squad such as Bayern Munich youngster Jamal Musiala, Germany boss Joachim Low has recalled the likes of Thomas Muller and Mats Hummels back into the fray, no doubt looking to introduce more of a winning mentality.

The squad's West London contingent will also do good for building a winning mentality, with Antonio Rudiger, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz all playing a big part in Chelsea's Champions League final win.

A comprehensive win against Denmark on Wednesday for Low's men could put them on track for a shock win against world champions France in their opening tie of the Euros.

Denmark come into this game on the back of a sensational run of form, with Kasper Hjulmand's men winning all three World Cup qualifiers and scoring 14 goals along the way.

Denmark beat Austria 4-0 last time out and, before that, they beat minnows Moldova 8-0.

If Hjulmand's side bring this kind of form into the Euros, Denmark could potentially emerge as a very dangerous side.

Denmark's squad consists of the likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Andreas Christensen, Jannik Vestergaard, Pierre-Emile Hojberg and Martin Braithwaite.

Team News

Germany's Chelsea contingent are unlikely to feature in this tie, having been given more time off after their Champions League exploits.

Manchester City favourite Ilkay Gundogan is also not expected to play any part in this fixture.

Denmark will be without Andreas Christensen, who was also part of Chelsea's final winning side.

Andreas Skov Olsen could start this tie after impressing Hjulmand in their game against Austria last time out.

Germany possible starting lineup:
Neuer; Klostermann, Ginter, Hummels, Can; Goretzka, Kimmich, Kroos; Gnabry, Muller, Sane

Denmark possible starting lineup:
Schmeichel; Wass, Kjaer, Andersen, Maehle; Hojbjerg, Delaney; Poulsen, Eriksen, Olsen; Braithwaite

We say: Germany 1-2 Denmark

This will be a really interesting test for both sides. Germany need a win to really solidify their credentials while Denmark have arguably been playing the better football of late. We think Denmark could get the better of this weakened Germany side this week.
