Before the 2022-2023 Premier League season kickoff, the top four favourites were Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Newcastle United.
We are halfway through the season, and the tables have turned already, with Arsenal leading the race while others fight to make it up into the top four essential spots available for the Champions League.
2022/23 Premier League Season Top Four Favourites
There is a lot to be considered when picking the top four favourites for this season, as what was earlier predicted is unlikely to happen.A lot of teams have shown so much surprise since the season kickoff. Arsenal and Newcastle United are off with a strong pace occupying two positions up the table.
Here we have a list of the top four favourites of the 2022/23 premier league season, which we expect to claim a spot in UCL ahead of next season.
4: Newcastle United
The new big spenders in England have been the biggest shock of the 2022-2023 Premier League season, as they currently occupy the number three position on the table with 34 points in 17 games. Newcastle United was recently purchased by a Saudi Arabia group that made many changes from last season, which saw them moving away from being relegated to mid-table. They have continued their impressive run this season which has seen Eddie Howe guild the team into fighting to make the UEFA Champions League, which is so far going as they have planned everything.Players like Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson are firing non-stop, sharing 15 goals in the Premier League. Eddie Howe has more credit for how the team is performing despite the slight change they were able to make, which proved to be worth all the money spent. They have improved tremendously from how they finished last season, not making the European football cut. This campaign is looking different for them.
Newcastle United are expected to finish nothing less than fourth on the table if they keep up with their impressive form, which sees them occupying number three today.
3: Manchester United
Erik Ten Hag and his player continue their impressive run after starting the season very poorly, losing back-to-back games filled with much Cristiano Ronaldo drama. New manager Ten Hag has been doing a lot of work which is now paying off for Manchester United, who is now one of the 2022-2023 Premier League season top four favourites. The devils are number four on the table with 16 games and have accumulated over 32 points already so far. They also have the advantage of playing fewer matches over Newcastle, who tops them with just two points.According to MySportDab, Cristiano Ronaldo's leaving Old Trafford has had no effect, as Marcus Rashford is now responsible for scoring, and England International has six goals in the League. Manchester United have a long fight to make sure they can keep up with the pace and hopefully hang on to finishing in the top four, which they missed out by a long mile last season under Ralf Rangnick. During the 2021-2022 season, the Old Trafford club could only manage to make Europa League which was below so many expectations.
Erik Ten Hag is hoping his players can keep on mainly delivering Marcus Rashford, the side's leading goal scorer in all competitions.
2: Manchester City
The current Premier League Champions have been good with the signing of Erling Haaland, who has already broken the EPL record of goals scored in a campaign under 16 games. Manchester City has been alright this season, but they have just been unable to catch up with table leaders Arsenal. The Gunners have been unstoppable this season under Mikel Arteta, who worked under Pep Guardiola for some time. The fight for the Premier League title, for now, is between the number one and two teams who are doing so well as the campaign is concerned.Erling Haaland has been the leading man who has already proved more than his worth with just 21 goals scored in the League, which is just halfway done. There is no doubt in Manchester City's ability to finish in the top four or go on winning the title, which they are far behind with seven points. They also still have the chance of overtaking League leaders if care needs to be taken or considered with some crucial games coming up.
1: Arsenal
Mikel Arteta and his revamped team are this season's biggest surprise, which has seen them step up their game from the previous campaign. Arsenal narrowly missed out on making top four finish last season which saw Tottenham overtake them on the final matchday. The Gunners have moved on and have been playing their best football ever since Arsene Wenger's departure, leading them to League glories during his era. They are the title favourites this season, leading the pack with just one loss and draw in all 17 games they have already played for the campaign.Arsenal so far has accumulated 43 points in 16 games this season which is far best than what they archived last campaign under the same number of matches. If they keep up with the pace and form, they could finally break the jinx by lifting the English Premier League title, which they have waited 18 years to claim. The last time the Gunners won the title was during the 2003-2004 campaign under legendary manager Arsene Wenger.
They have made sure everything keeps going as they want it to be this campaign with hopes of making their dream happen, which is still a long way from being done. It can be fair to say Arsenal will finish in the 2022/23 Premier League season top four with their current position today on the table.
