Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson is on the brink of joining Everton in a £45m deal, according to a report.

Everton will reportedly have Gylfi Sigurdsson in their ranks by the start of the weekend as they are on the brink of reaching an agreement with Swansea City.

The Toffees have been closing in on the Iceland international for the past few weeks, refusing to give up hope despite supposedly having their initial two offers knocked back.

Swans boss Paul Clement confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that talks with Everton are still "ongoing" at this stage, but The Mirror suggests that the transfer will be wrapped up within the next 48 hours.

It is expected to take a bid of £45m to prise the 27-year-old away from the Liberty Stadium, taking the Merseyside outfit's summer spending close to £140m in total.

Sigurdsson, who contributed nine goals and 13 assists in the Premier League last term, was again left out of Swansea's squad for their 2-0 win over Birmingham City last weekend.
