The FA confirms that the World Cup qualifier between England and Slovenia will go ahead as planned on Thursday, despite the possibility of a Tube strike.

The Football Association has confirmed that the World Cup qualifier between England and Slovenia will go ahead as planned on Thursday, despite threats of a Tube strike.

Gareth Southgate's team can secure a place in next summer's finals in Russia if they defeat their opponents at the national stadium in three days' time.

The governing body's transport partner National Express has offered additional coach transportation for fans from various points across the UK to Wembley.

More buses will be made available by Transport for London, while ticket holders will have access to a shuttle service from Waterloo train station and King's Cross.

A statement from the FA read: "The FA is committed to help as many supporters as possible attend the match. Over the past few days we have been working with TFL and our transport partner National Express to set up a range of transport options to help you get to and from Wembley. These additional services will remain in place even if the strike is cancelled.

"We thank supporters for their understanding and hope to see as many of you as possible for this penultimate FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifier. Please remember to allow extra time for your journey."

If fans cannot get to the stadium due to a Tube strike then their tickets will be refunded within 28 days.
