Goals from Aron Gunnarsson and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson give Iceland a 2-1 comeback win over the Czech Republic in their Euro 2016 qualifying clash in Group A.

Second-half goals from Aron Gunnarsson and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson ensured that Iceland came from a goal behind to beat the Czech Republic 2-1 in their Euro 2016 qualifying clash this evening.

After a probing opening the Czech Republic were presented with a great chance when Pavel Kaderabek crossed expertly for Tomas Necid, but he could only head wide to the left from just a few yards out.

Gylfi Sigurdsson sought to respond for Iceland as the Swansea City playmaker rifled an effort from distance that was saved adroitly by Petr Cech at the top right corner of the Republic goal.

Czech Republic came out of the blocks quickest in the second period and they went ahead after 55 minutes when Tomas Necid picked out Borek Dockal, who thundered home a memorable effort into the top left corner from outside of the box.

Iceland had not given up hope, however, as Gunnarsson powered a header into the bottom-left corner from an Ari Freyr Skulason corner to pull the hosts level just five minutes later.

The home side completed a remarkable turnaround in the 76th minute when Sigthorsson struck neatly with his left past a helpless Cech to give Iceland three crucial points, which move them above the Czech Republic into top spot in Group A.
