Chelsea are reportedly set to open talks with Mason Mount over a contract extension, with the midfielder's current deal set to expire in 2024.

Chelsea are reportedly set to hold contract talks with England international Mason Mount.

The midfielder's current deal at Stamford Bridge is set to expire in June 2024, but attempts to extend Mount's contract have been hindered by sanctions imposed on former owner Roman Abramovich.

However, with the new takeover by Todd Boehly now complete, restrictions against the club have officially been lifted, allowing the London side to buy and sell players and renegotiate contracts.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are expected to open contract talks as soon as possible, although the situation is not considered to be urgent.

Chelsea could make the 23-year-old one of their highest-paid players, with a proposed long-term deal set to double Mount's current earnings.

The Englishman, who is currently on international duty, has been a key figure in Thomas Tuchel's side after featuring in 53 games in the 2021-22 season.
