Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen affirms that he is at the club "for the long run" after entering the final 18 months of his existing deal.

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has insisted that he is keen to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

The Denmark international was nothing more than a bit-part player under Frank Lampard, but he has been given a new lease of life in the capital since Thomas Tuchel took the reins.

Christensen's existing deal with Chelsea is set to expire at the end of next season, but the centre-back has affirmed that he is at the club "for the long run" even if talks over an extension have not started yet.

"I've shown that I'm here for the long run. I've been here almost nine, ten years now," Christensen told the official Chelsea website.

"I've never doubted my decision [to come to Chelsea] and I've always been here for the long run. I accept that the club sometimes changes managers, and that can make it hard to always be in the team.

"After the loan spell [at Borussia Monchengladbach] I came back and played a good amount and since then it's been a bit in and out, but it's nice at the moment to play back-to-back games and my confidence is growing with each game.

"There have not been any talks [on a contract extension] yet, but like I said, I'm in this for the long run and I always have been. I feel like this is my second home. Denmark will always be my home, but Chelsea will always be my place."

Christensen has played the full 90 in six of Chelsea's last eight Premier League matches and also featured from the first whistle in the Blues' 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
