Tuchel: 'Bad feelings over Lukaku disallowed goal'

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel says there are "bad feelings" about the decision to disallow a Romelu Lukaku goal for offside during the EFL Cup final.

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel admits that he was frustrated with the decision to disallow a Romelu Lukaku goal for offside during Sunday's EFL Cup final against Liverpool.

Soon after the start of extra time, Lukaku lashed the ball into the bottom corner after being played through on goal, only for the assistant to flag for offside.

To the naked eye, there was an argument that the Belgian looked level with the last defender, but VAR ruled that the club-record arrival had moved marginally too early.

After Chelsea had eventually lost in a penalty shootout, Tuchel acknowledged that "there are bad feelings" about how the goal was chalked off with the use of technology.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Tuchel said: "Football can be a brilliant game and it was a brilliant game, no worries and no regrets.

"We gave everything and it was a brilliant match of football. The disallowed goal for Romelu is a very close call - there are bad feelings about this call.

"You need a bit of luck, we scored three times, had big chances, they had big chances, It was a fair result all the way to have a draw."

Tuchel also defended the decision to introduce Kepa Arrizabalaga for the penalty shootout after the Spaniard failed to save any of Liverpool's 11 spot kicks before sending his own effort several yards over the crossbar.
