Celtic announce that striker Carlton Cole has been released from the Scottish Premiership club.

Striker Carlton Cole has been allowed to leave Celtic after he failed to make an impact during his time at the Scottish Premiership champions.

The 32-year-old signed a deal with the Glasgow giants in October but he failed to make a league start and new boss Brendan Rodgers has allowed him to leave the club.

A statement read: "Celtic Football Club today confirmed that Carlton Cole is leaving the club. Everyone at Celtic would sincerely like to wish Carlton the very best of success for the future."

Cole had previously spent nine years at West Ham United.
