New Bournemouth full-back Marc Wilson admits that leaving Stoke City was a "big decision" to make, but is happy with his choice.

Marc Wilson has admitted that he cannot wait to get going at Bournemouth following the completion of his £2m move from Stoke City.

The 28-year-old had been on the lookout for a new club after publicly criticising boss Mark Hughes during a Twitter exchange with a fan last month.

Bournemouth had a bid officially accepted by the Potters on Monday evening to bring Wilson, a loanee at Dean Court in 2007, back to the club on a permanent basis.

Speaking to his new side's official website, the Ireland international said: "I am delighted to be back on the south coast. I know a lot of the guys down here and as soon I heard the interest from the club it was very appealing to me.

"Of course it was a big decision to make with having to move my wife and kid back down here, but I am thrilled now that I've made it. I enjoyed my years at Stoke but I spoke with the manager Mark Hughes and we both agreed it was time to move on - I am excited now to start a new chapter in my career."

Wilson leaves Stoke after making 176 appearances for the club over a six-year period since joining from Portsmouth.
