Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde claims that Levante "are currently the best team" in La Liga following Sunday's nine-goal thriller in Valencia.

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has claimed that Levante "are currently the best team" in La Liga.

Bara saw their hopes of finishing the 2017-18 La Liga campaign unbeaten come to an end courtesy of a 5-4 defeat at Levante on Sunday night.

The Valencia outfit have now won eight of their last 10 top-flight matches during an incredible run of form, and Valverde lavished praise on Paco Lopez's side following the nine-goal thriller.

"Our opponents are currently the best team in the league through their intensity and accuracy in front of goal, not only in this game but also others like against Leganes," Valverde told reporters.

"They also played very freely because they were no longer burdened by tension. You have to acknowledge what they've achieved, although it's strange that we conceded five goals for how the season's gone."

Champions Barcelona will finish their La Liga campaign at home to Real Sociedad this weekend.
