Boss Ernesto Valverde says that Barcelona cannot dwell on their Champions League exit to Roma as the club target ending the campaign unbeaten in La Liga.

Boss Ernesto Valverde has suggested that Barcelona must find a way to recover from the disappointment of losing to Roma in the Champions League quarter-finals.

On Tuesday night, Roma completed one of the most famous comebacks in the competition's history as the Italian outfit recorded a 3-0 win over Barca at the Stadio Olimpico to progress on away goals over the two legs.

Valverde has acknowledged the significance of their exit, but the manager of the Catalan giants is keen for his side to remain focused on the domestic scene as they attempt to end the season unbeaten in La Liga.

At a press conference, the 54-year-old told reporters: "We lost the possibility of staying in a competition we were excited about being in – it's a big disappointment. It's not just for us, but also for the fans. We feel responsible for letting them down. What you really want is to get back to playing, to put things behind us. We've still got two trophies we can win this season.

"It doesn't matter how many times we look back at the game on Tuesday, it's always a defeat. On Wednesday, we had still lost on Tuesday. On Thursday, we had still lost on Tuesday.

"We can't keep looking back at games in the past. We can't dwell on it. We lost. We need to re-engage with the fans and achieve the challenges we have ahead. It's important to keep focused."

Barcelona play host to third-placed Valencia at Camp Nou on Saturday afternoon.
