Barcelona welcomed top-four hopefuls Athletic Bilbao to the Camp Nou in La Liga on Sunday looking to end a run of three straight defeats in all competitions.
Both sides hit the woodwork in an end-to-end first period, but the score remained level at the interval.
It was Bilbao that broke the deadlock after 50 minutes through Aritz Aduriz, but strikes from Pedro and Lionel Messi in the space of two minutes secured all the points for Barcelona.

Gerardo Martino's side were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid on April 9, before losing 1-0 at Granada in La Liga last weekend. To make matters worse, the Catalan outfit lost 2-1 to Real Madrid in the final of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday. As it stands, they are facing the serious possibility of a trophy-less season.
