Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has paid tribute to his team's "magnificent season" after helping the Catalan outfit win the Copa del Rey title for a 28th time.

Extra-time goals from Jordi Alba and Neymar saw Barcelona record a 2-0 win over Sevilla in the Copa final on Sunday night, which completed a domestic double for Luis Enrique's team.

Barcelona were unable to repeat their treble success of last season, but Iniesta has insisted that it has still been a successful campaign for the Spanish giants.

"It was great to win like this, with 10 men, and the cup rounds off a magnificent season. We were dealt a setback, but a trophy has followed, along with a very good match for us, and we're very happy," Iniesta told TV3.

"We've finished the season very happily. It's been a very good season, a magnificent one, and we've made the club's history greater. We have the squad to keep winning things."

Barcelona finished one point above Real Madrid to retain the La Liga title this season.
