Barcelona travelled to Segunda B side Hercules on Wednesday night for the first leg of their last-32 Copa del Rey tie.
The visitors dominated the possession in the opening 45 minutes, but a strong rear-guard action from Hercules saw the two teams enter the break on level terms.
It was Hercules that made the breakthrough early in the second period through David Mainz, but Carles Alena levelled the scores with a long-range strike six minutes later as it finished all square in Alicante.
