Versatile forward Tim Cahill has won his 100th cap for Australia after starting his nation's Confederations Cup group match against Chile on Sunday afternoon.

The 37-year-old made his international debut for Australia in 2004, turning down the chance to represent Samoa, England and Ireland in the process.

The Australian scored 48 goals in his first 99 appearances for the nation, and will be looking to add to that total in his country's final Confederations Cup group match against Chile, which the Socceroos need to win to stand a chance of making the semi-finals.

Cahill has become just the second Australian to reach 100 appearances, with former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer the current record holder on 109 caps between July 1993 and September 2013.

After making his name at Millwall and spending eight years with Everton between 2004 and 2012, Cahill currently represents A-League side Melbourne City.
