Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere says that there are still "a few things to sort out" with regards to a new contract, which he will sign if given more playing time.

Jack Wilshere has insisted that he is "pretty sure" he will extend his stay at Arsenal by agreeing a new contract, but has reiterated that he wants to play more regularly.

The 25-year-old has not hidden the fact that he is unhappy playing a bit-part role at the Emirates Stadium since returning from a loan spell with Bournemouth.

Talks over a new deal, originally scheduled to take place in early December, have since been pushed back due to a rumoured impasse between the club and player.

Wilshere has offered a big hint that he is willing to put pen to paper should he be granted his wish of more league starts, however, with his current terms due to expire at the end of the campaign.

"I said it before - this is where I want to be, this is where I see myself in the future, but whether I will be we will see over the next few weeks," he told Sky Sports News. "The biggest thing for any footballer, even more so for me because of the injuries and the amount of games I have missed, is that you are playing.

"Apart from that there are a few small things, but as long as I am playing I am happy. I have missed too much football, I just want to be playing. I definitely enjoy my football, playing in the Premier League and want to help Arsenal get to where they should be.

"If after January it turns out like that, of course I want to be here. We just have to sort a few things out, and I'm pretty sure it can all be sorted."

Wilshere made his first Premier League start of the season in the goalless draw with West Ham United last week, and followed that up with another 90 minutes against Newcastle United at the weekend.
