Arsenal should sign Daniel Sturridge on a free transfer this summer, according to former Premier League forward Clinton Morrison.

Former Premier League forward Clinton Morrison has claimed that Arsenal should sign Daniel Sturridge on a free transfer this summer.

Sturridge will officially become a free agent when his Liverpool contract expires at the end of this month.

The 29-year-old only scored four times for Jurgen Klopp's side during the 2018-19 campaign, but he has netted 68 goals for the Reds in 160 appearances across all competitions.

Arsenal are only expected to have around £40m to spend on new signings this summer and Morrison has said that Sturridge would be a good free transfer for Unai Emery's side.

"I believe Daniel Sturridge is still good enough to play in the Premier League. He's got great technical ability," Morrison told talkSPORT. "Before all of his injuries, for me personally, I think he was the best English striker in the country. I thought he was better than Harry Kane.

"He's the most naturally-gifted finisher I've seen. He's the most natural finisher in the Liverpool team, but you just can't get him in that team because of the work-rate of [Sadio] Mane, [Roberto] Firmino and [Mohamed] Salah.

"He's had a lot of injuries, but I think he'd be a great addition for most Premier League teams. Maybe not in the top three or four, maybe not for Liverpool or Manchester City, but he could go to a team like Arsenal."

Sturridge's Premier League record stands at 77 goals in 218 appearances, which have come during spells with Manchester City, Chelsea, Bolton Wanderers, West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool.
