Arsenal are willing to use controversial midfielder Matteo Guendouzi as a makeweight during the summer transfer window, according to a report.

Arsenal are reportedly exploring the possibility of using Matteo Guendouzi as a makeweight during the summer transfer window.

The midfielder has been left out of Mikel Arteta's squad for Arsenal's two most recent fixtures against Southampton and Sheffield United, leading to rumours that Guendouzi will seek a move away from the Emirates this summer.

The Frenchman's future has been left shrouded in uncertainty following disciplinary issues in Arsenal's defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, and the Gunners are supposedly willing to part ways with the 21-year-old prior to a potential summer overhaul at the Emirates.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have put out feelers to assess possible interest in Guendouzi as they aim to improve their squad on a severely-restricted budget this summer.

Arsenal are expected to prioritise swap deals and free signings during a transfer window likely to be heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, although a recent report suggested that the Gunners are close to sealing a deal for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

Guendouzi, who still has two years left to run on his current deal at the Emirates, has turned out 34 times for the Gunners across all competitions during the 2019-20 campaign.
