Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno insists that he will become Unai Emery's first choice, although he is yet to make an appearance for his new club.

Arsenal's Bernd Leno has insisted that he will become manager Unai Emery's first-choice goalkeeper, although he is yet to make an appearance for his new club.

The 26-year-old joined the Gunners this summer from Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year contract for a fee of £22.5m, having made 304 appearances for the Bundesliga side.

However, the Germany international has struggled to make the starting XI ahead of Petr Cech, who has been favoured by Emery so far for the 2018-19 Premier League season.

Despite his lack of playing time, he told German outlet Bild: "I am convinced that my change was the right decision.

"I'm not crazy. It may take a few weeks or months, but my time here will come."

Leno could make his Arsenal debut when they face Cardiff City in the Premier League on Sunday.
