Unai Emery insists that he is "happy" with Arsenal's performance at Chelsea despite seeing his side fall to a 3-2 defeat in West London on Saturday.

Unai Emery has stressed that he is "happy" with Arsenal's performance at Chelsea despite seeing his side fall to a 3-2 defeat in West London.

Pedro put the Blues ahead after nine minutes at Stamford Bridge before Alvaro Morata doubled the lead with a smart finish in the 20th minute.

Arsenal then drew level before the break as Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi scored within four minutes of each other, but the game was ultimately settled by Marcos Alonso's 81st-minute winner.

"We want to win," Emery told BT Sport. "That is always the way but it is clear that defensively we conceded three goals but also we had chances to get more goals.

"In the first half we are creating chances to score, and for that I am happy, I am in the match thinking we are [doing] well on the pitch. But also they had options, chances to score and effectiveness is the difference.

"Our reaction is good, we had chances to go 2-2 and we deserved to do more at half time. I think the second half we didn't push and keep possession like we did in the first half, and in our moments, our chances, we didn't do, and they did.

"That is why the result is 3-2. But it is one process. In the second half we played with two midfielders, 19 and 21 years old. They improve and are continuing. I am happy without the result."

Arsenal are back in action next Saturday with a home game against West Ham United.
