Arsenal's David Ospina admits that he is hopeful of taking any further opportunities that come his way in order to oust Petr Cech as first-choice keeper.

David Ospina has insisted that he will continue to "work hard" to prove his worth to Arsenal after his impressive display against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday evening.

The Colombian keeper was surprisingly brought into the Gunners' starting lineup for their trip to the French capital, taking the place of Petr Cech between the sticks.

Ospina pulled off a number of big stops to keep his side in the game at 1-0 down, which proved vital as Alexis Sanchez struck against the run of play to earn his side a 1-1 draw from their trickiest Group A fixture.

Arsene Wenger revealed that he intends to keep the 28-year-old in goal for Arsenal's next European fixture, a home tie against Basel in two weeks' time, but Ospina is hopeful of being given a chance to impress on a more regular basis.

"We as a team take every opportunity, we work hard for that," he is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard. "For me, I need to work hard and be ready for every chance when I get to play.

"For us it was the biggest match of the group to play against Paris Saint-Germain, although of course we respect all the other teams in the group. It is a good draw and we can build on that but there's a long way to go."

Ospina made just 12 appearances for Arsenal last season in all competitions, the last of which coming in a 3-3 draw with West Ham United in April.
