Arsenal will aim to avoid equalling an unwanted scoreless club record when they face Liverpool in Wednesday's Premier League clash at the Emirates.

Arsenal will hope to avoid equalling an unwanted scoreless record when Liverpool make the journey to the Emirates Stadium for Wednesday's Premier League clash.

Mikel Arteta's side have won their last five on the bounce in the Premier League and enter the midweek round of fixtures fourth in the table with plenty of games in hand on the sides around them.

However, the Gunners have traditionally struggled to compete with Liverpool and are without a goal against the Reds in five games in all competitions since Alexandre Lacazette's strike at Anfield in September 2020.

Should Arsenal fail to find the back of the net on Wednesday, they will equal their longest record in the club's history of six games without a goal against a single opponent.

The Gunners previously strung together a barren six-match run without a goal against the Reds between 1997 and 2000, which was ended through Lauren's first strike for the club in August 2000.

Liverpool have been dealt a major blow ahead of the midweek encounter, though, with Mohamed Salah missing training on Monday due to a foot injury.
