Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger brands his side's schedule "cruel" ahead of the Gunners' 2,400-mile Europa League trip on Thursday.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has branded his side's schedule "cruel" ahead of the Gunners' 2,400 mile trip to BATE Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday.

The London side's trip to Belarus - the longest of their three away ties - comes as the club look to make it two wins from two in Group H after victory over Lyon two weeks ago.

The Gunners had striker Alexandre Lacazette to thank on Monday night as his brace of goals was enough to get past West Bromwich Albion, while the club will follow up their midweek trip across Europe with a home game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

"I have a decision to make and at the moment I would say that the schedule for us is a bit cruel," Wenger told the Evening Standard.

"We play [on Monday], we play in BATE Borisov on Thursday night and play Sunday morning at 12pm. There is no need to talk to the Premier League about [the TV schedule] because it's the television that decides.

"So for us the time is very short. But the television decides and I don't complain about that. What I want to say is that for the selection it has an impact for me for the first day and for the Sunday game. Because you have another home game and it is very important that we have a strong record at home."

Arsenal also face a lengthy trip to Serbia to face Red Star Belgrade on October 19.
