ITV postpones next week's National Television Awards to October following the death of The Queen.

ITV has decided to postpone next week's National Television Awards as the UK enters a period of mourning following the death of The Queen.

After more than 70 years on the throne, the monarch passed away peacefully at her Scottish residence Balmoral on Thursday afternoon after a short period of ill health.

Many major sporting and entertainment events due to take place over the next week are being delayed as a mark of respect - and now the NTAs have confirmed their own postponement.

The star-studded event - hosted by Joel Dommett - was due to take place on Thursday, September 15 but will now be held on Thursday, October 13.

A statement said: "ITV and Indigo Television have taken the decision to reschedule this year's National Television Awards; the ceremony will now take place on Thursday 13th October, live from the OVO Arena Wembley."

Online voting has been temporarily suspended but will reopen at 9am on Tuesday, September 20.
