Sky has announced seven new factual commissions to play out across Sky Documentaries, Sky Nature and Sky Crime.
The slate includes Fred West: The Glasgow Girls, a three-part series about the serial killer's first three victims; The Good Fight Club, following a group of aspiring MMA athletes from South London; Hurst: The First and Only, a feature-length portrait of World Cup hero Geoff Hurst; and Spector, a four-parter about legendary music producer Phil Spector, who spent the last years of his life imprisoned for murder.
Whale with Steve Backshall follows on from the naturalist's documentary series about the shark, while Secret World of Sound is a three-part series exploring how sound plays a pivotal part in the lives of animals.
The final commission is a one-off called Intrusion: Stasi FC, looking back at how East Germany's secret service attempted to control football in the 1970s.
Poppy Dixon, Sky's director of documentaries and factual, said: "From celebrating talented, young, underrepresented voices in an exciting growth sport, to asking uneasy questions about one of Britain's most notorious killers, to using cutting-edge technology to listen to the natural world with new ears, we are thrilled to be showcasing such an innovative, thought-provoking and entertaining range of true stories on our factual slate."
The shows are all at various stages of production and will play out via Sky later this year and in early 2023.
